Construction Project of the Orphelinat Cinq Étoiles in BOKO 1

Introduction

For decades, vulnerability has devastated our country, the Democratic Republic of Congo. The economic situation has declined significantly, leading to the closure of many companies. As result, many families are unable to meet their basic needs, and children are the most affected, with increasing levels of vulnerability.

Considering the levels of poverty identified through studies and field surveys, the founder of this organization initiated the creation of this structure, which is recognized by the Government of the Republic and works in partnership with similar organizations.

OR.C.ET was created in Matadi as a Non-Governmental Development Organization governed by its statutes and internal regulations. It is a social organization with educational, philanthropic, socio-cultural, and professional objectives, aimed at the holistic development of vulnerable persons.

Our Location The social and administrative headquarters are located in BOKO I, KIONZO Grouping, LUFU Sector, SEKE-BANZA Territory, Central Kongo Province.

Legal Status

The organization is recognized by State Services, including Social Affairs, and collaborates with similar organizations.

Context

The Democratic Republic of Congo faces multiple forms of poverty due to its post-conflict status, political instability, and social inequalities. Many households are unable to meet their children’s basic needs, including education, healthcare, nutrition, vocational training, and housing.

These unfavorable living conditions do not provide a safe and protective environment for children, exposing them to various risks and social breakdown.

Justification

Orphans, street children, and abandoned children are among the most vulnerable groups in society. They face malnutrition, illiteracy, abuse, disease, drug use, and delinquency.

In Matadi, disparities in access to quality education are evident, particularly for children from disadvantaged backgrounds. This has contributed to juvenile delinquency, substance abuse, early sexuality, and crime.

This project aims to provide quality basic social services through initiatives led by MAMAN KAHINDO MASIKA Léontine under the Five Star Organization.

General Objective

To supervise and protect street children, orphans, and abandoned children, enabling them to become actors and beneficiaries of development.

Intermediate Objectives

Improve living conditions
Ensure protection, health, education, and social development
Promote civic responsibility, patriotism, and personal growth

implementation Strategies

Construction of a reception infrastructure including an orphanage, library, classrooms, and administrative offices to host and support 20–50 children and more over time.
Skills-based education programs in tailoring, agronomy, electromechanics, veterinary studies, mechanics, IT, carpentry, and others.
Training of supervisors and facilitators; participation of children in recreational activities; establishment of nursery, primary, secondary schools, a university, and agricultural space.

Building Structure

Three-level building.

Ground floor: Administrative offices, dormitory, rest room, kitchen, toilets

Level 1: Dormitories, bathrooms, rest rooms

Level 2: 9 classrooms

Level 3: 9 classrooms

Expected Results

Construction of a child reception and education infrastructure in BOKO I.

Funding

Self-funded by MAMAN KAHINDO MASIKA Léontine.

Current Situation

The organization currently supervises 22 children housed at OR.C.ET. However, construction is not yet complete, and finishing the building remains a priority.

Current Challenges

Electricity and water supply issues; transportation; building completion; equipping classrooms with desks and benches.
We appeal to local and international partners and well-wishers to support and protect orphaned and abandoned children.
